چکیده

Abstract A K-user direct-sequence spread-spectrum code-division multiple-access (CDMA) system with (q log2 K)-bit baseband signal quantization at the demodulator is considered. It is shown that additionally quantizing the K + 1 level output signal of the CDMA modulator into q bits improves significantly the average bit-error performance in a non-negligible regime of noise variance, σ 2, and user load, β, under various system settings, like additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN), Rayleigh fading, single-user detection, multi-user detection, random and orthogonal spreading codes. For the case of single-user detection in random spreading AWGN-CDMA, this regime is identified explicitly as

Bit Error Performance for Asynchronous Ds Cdma Systems Over Multipath Rayleigh Fading Channels (RESEARCH NOTE)

In recent years, there has been considerable interest in the use of CDMA in mobile communications. Bit error rate is one of the most important parameters in the evaluation of CDMA systems. In this paper, we develop a technique to find an accurate approximation to the probability of bit error for asynchronous direct–sequence code division multiple–access (DS/CDMA) systems by modeling the multipl...

Throughput Improvement of STS-Based MC DS-CDMA System with Variable Spreading Factor

The throughput enhancement of Space-Time Spreading (STS)-based Multicarrier Direct Sequence Code Division Multiple Access (MC DS-CDMA) system is investigated in this paper. Variable Spreading Factor (VSF) is utilized to improve the data throughput of the system. In this contribution, an analytical approach is proposed to compute a new expression for the Bit Error Rate (BER) performance of t...

DS-CDMA Downlink Site Diversity with Frequency-Domain Equalization and Antenna Diversity Reception

The use of frequency-domain equalization based on minimum mean square error criterion (called MMSE-FDE) can significantly improve the bit error rate (BER) performance of DS-CDMA signal transmission compared to the well-known coherent rake combining. However, in a DS-CDMA cellular system, as a mobile user moves away from a base station and approaches the cell edge, the received signal power gets...

Performance Comparison of Turbo Coded Mc-cdma and Ds-cdma with Higher Level Modulation

Multi-carrier code division multiple access (MC-CDMA), direct sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) and orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) are the major contenders for wireless signaling technique. For higher data rates, the use of higher level data modulation is desirable. In MC-CDMA [1], the data-modulated symbol to be transmitted is spread over a number of subcarrie...

Multi-carrier multi-access using frequency-interleaving and its uplink BER performance

Abstract In direct sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) and multi-carrier (MC)-CDMA, frequency-domain equalization (FDE) based on minimum mean square error (MMSE) criterion can be applied to exploit the channel frequency-selectivity and to improve bit error rate (BER) performance. In MC-CDMA uplink, however, the BER performance significantly degrades due to strong multi-user interfe...
